DC Live! Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, Part 13 Livestream
Last week’s Final Fantasy IV: The After Years livestream announcement had a small error. I mistakenly believed that after Edward’s chapter was completed, and I’d be starting on the Lunarians’ chapter. Turns out I’d completely forgotten about Kain’s chapter. Since I had Monday off, I kept playing the game until I finished both Kain and the Lunarians’ chapters. There’s were a lot of Persona elements in Kain’s chapter. The Lunarians’ section mostly featured Golbez. He was interesting to play as, being the closest thing Final Fantasy IV has to a battle mage.
Tonight I’ll be starting on the final chapter. When doing a bit of research to make sure I didn’t forget anything, I noticed there are actually three chapters combined into one. This tracks with Joseph’s 2012 review of the game where he noted the final chapter is almost as long as all the other chapters combined. In other words, although I’ve finally reached the home stretch of The After Years, it might take several streams to put this game to rest. At worst, it could take the entirety of May at the pace I’ve been playing. On the upside, I hope I’ll be able to create a balanced party versus the wildly unbalanced parties this game has inflicted upon me for the last 25 or so hours.
